Self-esteem does not come from other people, it comes from within.
As a parent, you increase your kids' self-esteem by giving them something to be proud of.
What can they be proud of?
How nice they are, their good behaviour, the friendship that they have with you, how they treat people … that's what builds high self-esteem.
When you set yourself up as a leader, their self-esteem happens organically.
Kids of leaders tend to have high self-esteem, they tend to like themselves.
Also, if you're the source of them liking themselves and having high self-esteem, they want to please you.
Think of it as a win-win situation.
